P52 - Week 2 - Red

Ok, so A Sharp Photo's adventure this past week was the color Red.  I was a little delayed because I had to function as a headshot photographer in Atlanta last weekend but I caught up this week.  I am a little on the fence about how to handle this project on the whole.  Part of me wants to work on planning concepts but another part of me wants to let things be organic and true.  I'll figure it out.  I actually had 2 ideas that I didn't do that may have to roll into another week in a different way.

This was a 'berry good picture' (womp womp!!).  I was actually finished with the week but I saw this on the way home from church and figured it would work.

While I don't necessarily think the flower is all that exciting, I liked it against the yellow background.

I probably took like 50 photos of this flower; moved it around, changed the background, changed the lighting.  Sometimes I forget but its important to fully explore a subject to make sure you get the most out of it.

Just happened upon this.  I liked the contrast between the bright red, the green and the blue.

This was right next to the phone booth (how perfect is that for someone shooting red things).

This store had this massive red lawn chair.  If I was thinking, I would have taken a photo in the chair because you can't tell how large the chair is.  Rookie mistake.

Yep, I know this is probably out of spec for a boudoir photographer in Ocala but I have to use my camera often (all of the time even) if I'm going to be #ASharpshooter.  If you haven't, like my page www.facebook.com/asharpphoto13 and you can see more of my work at my website: www.asharpphoto.biz.  You can purchase art there as well as see my work.

Thank you for looking and I would love to hear your comments :).

Interrupting my regularly scheduled program

So I was supposed to have week 2 of my P52 up last week. The theme was Red.  Well, A Sharp Photo was in Atlanta with Detour Entertainment making connections and building the business up there.  I did get a great shot of the side of a church, brick; it was red but I converted it to black and white :).

But we did some really exciting things and they will play out as we get further into the year.  I will keep you posted.  While I am working towards becoming a major headshot photographer in Orlando, I am also working on building a boudoir business in Central Florida as well.  Here are a few of the shots I grabbed last weekend, Enjoy!!

P52 - Week 1 - Cartoon

For a while, I'd been looking for something to add to #ASharpPhoto 's repertoire to make it even more unique.  I had started working with #cosplayers towards the end of last year and I thought it would be a great idea to turn some of those images into something that looked animated.  I tried fooling with filters in #Photoshop but it wasn't really getting me what I want.  I looked and didn't find anything.  One of my sisters was in town in December and I mentioned it to her.  Being the internet guru that she is, she found a solution for me within 5 minutes.

Initialy, I applied the process the way I initially imagined it, to a #cosplay image.  I still had some growing to do but it was a good start.

I knew that I was going to apply this look to cosplay shoots where it fit and I really didn't think more about it.  Well, my wife's cousin posted a selfie and my wife said she looked like "Chocolate Sunshine" and that triggered something in my head and I came up with this:

That was so much fun that I thought I should explore it more.  Also, working on this made me realize that I needed to think of the actual painting/drawing aspect a lot more than I had.  Uh ... I don't paint or draw but who says I can't try.  The last image that I worked was one of my favorites.  It actually a panoramic stitch of a few images.  The purpose of that is to photograph something that may normally be too large for your lens in bite sized chunks and then put it together as one large image.  This is what I produced:

Lastly, I wanted to create something that was closer to 'real'.  More thought went into shading and blending skin tones to make this look natural.  Of course this works best if its #ASharpPhoto in the first place (you see what I did there?...)

I'm done with this week but I am definitely not finished with this process.  I am actually considering looking deeper into actual drawing and shading so that I can really bring this to life.  And that is the end of my first week's journey this year in my quest to be #asharpshooter.

2015 Project 52 - P52

Last year, I finished a project that I'd started 2 years prior.  I purposed to process an image daily for a year,  a Project 365.  Never mind that it took twice as long, I finished!!  I learned a lot and it advanced my photography in a major way.  Once I finished it, I knew that I wanted to continue developing my craft in an organized or regular way.

This year I am doing a Project 52 (P52).  The purpose is for me to focus on certain themes, skills, etc for a longer period of time so that I can drill down and explore a little bit more than once a day.  I will post some of my results a the end of each week.

Stay tuned!!!
